Envisioned from the start as a pond scene, this multimedia painting was created with string, acrylic paint, spray paint, mandala templates and the shadows of local trees. The vibrant colors provided a powerful base, creating a strong contrast that allowed the dappled, darker tree shadows to really stand out. I incorporated string to introduce more texture, finding that shaping it into rays helped bring back the brightness of the base that resonated with the ripples of the lily pads. This piece captures a waterscape brimming with hundreds of colors despite the shadows falling over it.
