Simply Quiet

Decomposed but full of life

To escape the wires of the mind

Thought after thought, restless.

Choosing to leave, to turn it off.

The world around me hums a subtle tune

A breeze gracefully brushes my skin

Fog lies atop the world, like a blanket protecting what’s within.

To stand atop the rocks, to gaze upon the docks

To smell the freshly rained-on plants, to see tiny people as ants

To experience a world free of stress, to feel the freedom to express

With nature comes balance, free of expectation

Often hindered by the limits of the mind

To choose to think is a beloved find.

Thoughts often overwhelmed, crowded, like a subway

As people flood out, more flood in

Once the train stops running, various people leave, a few stay

And wait.

Entertain the thoughts who wait, patient, choosing their stop.

The break in time is calm, yet seeking, silence amidst noise.

Explore and experience the world

Allow stress to fade away

Choose to see the color amongst the gray.

Life grants itself chaos, as the world moves faster

Take time to slow down, as the world falls into focus.

As the moment begins to end, the feeling of peace lingers

When the world feels too wide, connect to a space which feels the right kind of confined.

Empty.

Quiet.

Yet full of life.
